Adjunct Professor Yong Lu Elected as Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA)

Recently, Professor Yong Lu, Adjunct Professor of the School of Civil Engineering and a 1983 graduate alumnus (master's program), who currently serves as Chair Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, UK, received official notification from the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA), announcing his successful election as a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (in the field of Technical and Environmental Sciences).

Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Salzburg, Austria, the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) is an internationally renowned academic organization with high prestige in the fields of science and arts. The Academy comprises seven branches: Natural Sciences, Medicine, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Technical and Environmental Sciences, and World Religions. It is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among distinguished scientists, leading artists, and scholars/practitioners worldwide. EASA currently has over 2,000 Fellows, including 38 Nobel laureates. Notable fellows in the civil engineering field from China include Professor Yongbin Yang (Chongqing University), Professor Xilin Lu (Tongji University), Professor Jie Li (Tongji University), Professor Yong Yuan (Tongji University), Professor Zhishen Wu (Southeast University), and Professor Linhai Han (Tsinghua University).

Professor Yong Lu has conducted long-term and systematic research in the areas of structural performance, disaster prevention and mitigation, infrastructure resilience, structural vibration and damage identification, with particular expertise in earthquake and blast resistance and the dynamic performance of engineering structures and materials. He has achieved internationally influential and groundbreaking results and is recognized as a leading scholar in the field of blast and impact resistance of international structures and engineering materials. Professor Lu has maintained a long-term and in-depth cooperative relationship with the School of Civil Engineering, promoting academic exchanges and collaboration between Southeast University and the University of Edinburgh, and providing valuable guidance and support for the development of SEU's civil engineering discipline.
