On September 21, the 2025 International Conference on Engineering Education Development was held in Tianjin. Distinguished guests attending the conference included Zhang Ling, Vice Mayor of Tianjin Municipal People's Government; Zhou Tianhua, Director of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education; Sun Youhong, President of Southeast University; Elizabeth Taylor, President of the International Engineering Union; and Zaw Min Aung, Chair of the Engineering Education Committee of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations. The event brought together nearly a thousand participants, including academicians, experts, faculty and students, business representatives, and industry associations from more than 90 universities across five continents.
A key part of the conference included the establishment ceremony of the "International New Engineering Faculty Teaching Development Center" and the "International Center for Cultivating Outstanding Engineering Talents," which was attended by Zhang Wenming, the School of Civil Engineering at Southeast University. The two centers, approved for Southeast University and based at the School of Civil Engineering, are jointly established by the university and Jiangsu Transportation Research Institute Group Co., Ltd. Both centers focus on the field of smart bridge engineering.
